About Chattelz
Chattelz is a marketplace built into the home buying and selling process. When a home sale closes, the furniture, fixtures, and belongings left behind become their own small negotiation, separate from the real estate deal itself. Chattelz gives sellers, buyers, agents, and stagers a simple, secure way to handle that negotiation directly, without it slowing down or complicating the actual sale.
Our story
The idea came from a real closing. One of our founders, a longtime Toronto real estate broker, closed a $4 million home sale in under a week. Then he spent two weeks negotiating an outdoor patio set worth a few hundred dollars, a negotiation that created real friction between the buyer and seller and nearly put the whole deal at risk.
That gap, between how fast a major transaction can move and how clumsy the small stuff around it can get, is what Chattelz was built to close.
